Ben Jones Headshot

Our Founder

RATJPA was founded by Ben Jones, a proud Pitta Pitta, Maiawali and Karuwali man, living on Whadjuk Country. With twelve years of dedicated service as a remote health professional and registered nurse in remote Aboriginal communities across Western Australia, Northern Territory, and South Australia, he has held various roles, including Health Centre Management, Remote Area Nurse Generalist, and Nurse Specialist positions. Ben's experience encompasses Primary Health and Critical Care nursing, regional Emergency, Infection Control & Prevention and serving with the Australian Medical Assistance Team (AusMAT) in Darwin during the pandemic, as the Quality Manager and Clinical Nurse Consultant on the Rapid Assessment Team.

Cultural Expertise & Immersion

With more than 15 years of living and working in remote Aboriginal communities, Ben brings more than experience—he brings lived connection. His cultural heritage gives him a grounded lens on healthcare, one that respects sensitivities of living on other Country. Add to that formal training in cross-cultural mediation and cultural awareness from the Mawul Rom Masters in Indigenous Knowledges in Galiwin’ku, East Arnhem Land, and a Welsh heritage and you’ve got a rare mix of insight and skill. Ben keeps learning, whilst drawing on life and work experiences from overseas and across Australia’s remote communities to keep his approach fresh, practical, and deeply relevant.
